How I teach

My teaching priorities are always simplicity, safety and support. I believe that the most important thing you can do as an instructor is keep cueing clear and easy to follow so clients can focus on their form and technique.

My opinion is that there is a time and place for originality and creativity in classes, but the fundamentals will always be at the core of my plans, and I dont agree with sacrificing the effectiveness of a session for sake of a gimmicky exercise.

I always teach with levels so clients can move in a way that feels right for them, but I avoid language that indicates progressions are ‘better’ so that there is no pressure.

My sessions are built on classical Pilates foundations, but mixed with modern theory and a more contemporary style. I’m not a Pilates purist, and I strongly believe in being adaptability in my practice and teaching.

Most importantly, I want my classes to feel welcoming and enjoyable, where questions can be asked without hesitation, and mistakes can be made without embarrassment.

I remember falling on my face during one of my first reformer pilates classes and being mortified when everyone turned to look at me. My classes are a space where everyone can embrace moments like that, have a laugh and move on.
